MACADAMIA NUTS
Macadamia nuts are the only commercially grown indigenous Australian food (Stephenson 1983). Allan Cunningham first discovered the Macadamia Nut in 1828. While never a secret to the Aboriginal people, it did not take long before more people began to realize the potential of the indigenous Bush Nut as a commercial crop.
Countries such as South Africa, America, Malawi, Kenya, Israel, Brazil and many other subtropica regions have now ventured into Macadamia Nut Production.
Today, Macadamia's are a globally traded commodity.
